Fuel is stored in a tank, air is drawn in for combustion, and exhaust waste is vented outside. A control system monitors voltage and frequency and, in some models, a battery and starter motor help the engine start. Most units also have a cooling system, oil lubrication, fuel filters, and an exhaust system to protect the operator.
